Arabian cormorant [3] (Phalacrocorax nigrogularis) - a species of large bird from the cormorant family (Phalacrocoracidae). Occurs in the Persian Gulf, the Arabian Sea islands off the coast of Oman and the Gulf of Aden off the coast of Yemen, and recently also in Socotra; also found in the southern part of the Red Sea (possible breeding on islands off the coast of Eritrea) [4]. There are no subspecies [4] [5]. Body length 76–84 cm; wingspan 102–110 cm [4]. Plumage is dark, during the tooting period a few white feathers appear behind the eyes. Builds nests of stones.
