Queensland (locally KWEENZ- land, abbreviated as Qld) is the second - largest and third- most populous state in the Commonwealth of Australia. Tourism in the state, fuelled largely by its warm climate, is a major industry.

Queensland was first inhabited by Aboriginal Australians and Torres Strait Islanders.
