In 2008, Bishop Jan Wieczorek commissioned the construction of a new church [6] for the parish of St. Józef in Bytom. In a competition in 2009, the Diocesan Construction Commission selected the project of dr hab. Eng. arch. Jan Rabieja [6] [2] [5], co-created by Techmeko [7] [8] from the Silesian University of Technology [9]. In 2010, a plot of land for the construction of a temple was purchased from the Bytom commune [6], and in 2013 a building permit was obtained [6]. On March 31, 2014, the construction of the church and presbytery began, and on May 1, 2015, the cornerstone was laid in the chancel wall; the supporting structure was erected by the Eurolam company [7]. The construction was completed in December that year [2]. On June 4, 2015, mass was celebrated in the new church for the first time [2], and on December 16, 2015, regular use of the temple and rectory began [6].
