Hermann Hubacher (born August 1, 1885 in Biel / Bienne, died November 18, 1976 in Zurich) - Swiss sculptor and artist. He attended a technical school in Biel, where he studied engraving, medallic art and goldsmithing, only later became interested in sculpture. From 1905 he attended the one-year sculpture course at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Geneva, and then at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. Then he traveled around Central Europe, from 1910 he studied sculpture in Bern. After graduating in 1916, he settled in Zurich, where he became friends with Oskar Reinhart. He traveled to Italy and France, and in 1929 to Egypt and Sudan. From 1926, he belonged to the Federal Art Commission for three years. In 1938 he received the main prize at the International Sculpture Biennale in Venice. In 1944 he was awarded the city of Zurich award, in 1945 the University of Zurich awarded Hermann Hubacher an honorary title. In 1955 he became an honorary citizen of the city of Biel.
