Adolf von Hildebrand (born October 6, 1847 in Marburg, died January 18, 1921 in Munich) - German sculptor and art theorist [1] [2]. He was the son of the economist Bruno Hildebrand [1]. He studied at the Kunstschule in Nuremberg, later apprenticed to Kaspar von Zumbusch in Munich and Rudolf Siemering in Berlin [1], lived in Italy 1872-1897, where he made friends with art theorist Konrad Fiedler and painter Hans von Marées [2]. He created classicist monuments, grave, decorative and portrait sculptures. His main work is the Wittelsbach Fountain in Munich, constructed in the years 1890-1895 [1]. He wrote theoretical works on art.
