Habsburg Monarchy, Habsburg Empire, coll. and briefly Austria - unofficial names used for countries remaining in a personal (later real) union, whose rulers came from the Habsburg dynasty and where each ruling representative was at the same time Archduke of Austria, King of Bohemia, King of Hungary, and the ruler of their countries and territories [2]. The union existed in the years 1526–1804. Some of the states of the Habsburg monarchy belonged to the Holy Roman Empire, and as King of Bohemia, the ruler of the monarchy was the elector of the election of the King of Germany (who was then enthroned Emperor). The Habsburgs also seized the throne of the Holy Roman Emperor for themselves. The states of the Habsburg monarchy were united into the Empire of Austria on August 11, 1804, and two years later, Dice-Emperor Francis II Habsburg dissolved the Holy Roman Empire.
