Systematics Arabitragus jayakari is a species of mammal belonging to the beef family. It is located in the subfamily of ibex [4]. Zoologists - only on the basis of morphological studies - placed the species within the genus Hemitragus (tar) as Hemitragus jayakari [2]. In 2005, Anne Ropiquet and Alexandre Hassanin - based on phylogenetic studies - showed that H. jayakari is a species related to arui (Ammotragus). As a consequence, scientists proposed to isolate H. jayakari into the monophyletic genus Arabitragus as Arabitragus jayakari [1]. In the publication "Polish naming of mammals of the world" published in 2015 by the Museum and Institute of Zoology of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the genus was given the designation arabotar, and the species Arabitragus jayakari - arabotar pale [4]
