Voluntary submission to punishment - an institution of Polish criminal law allowing the accused to submit an application for a specific penalty without taking evidence. It is regulated by art. 387 of the Code of Criminal Procedure Voluntary submission to punishment significantly shortens the criminal trial.

Until the end of the first hearing of all the accused at the main trial, the accused who has been charged with an offense punishable by a maximum term of imprisonment of 15 years may submit a request for a conviction and imposition of a specific penalty or penalty, forfeiture or compensatory measure without taking evidence. The court may grant the application if the circumstances of the offense and guilt are not in doubt and the objectives of the procedure are achieved despite not conducting the trial in full. Acceptance of an application is possible only if the prosecutor does not oppose it, as well as the injured party duly notified about the date of the trial and instructed about the possibility of the accused submitting such an application.

Pursuant to the decision of the Supreme Court of 17 May 2000 I KZP 7/00 in the mode provided for in art. 387 of the Code of Criminal Procedure only a conviction may be issued and not a conditionally discontinuing criminal proceeding.
