Shirou Emiya (衛宮士郎, Emiya Shirō) is a fictional character from the Japanese media franchise Fate. He first appears as the main protagonist and narrator of the 2004 visual novel Fate/stay night by Type- Moon, establishing a position as a key character in the greater Fate series.

In Fate/stay night, Shirou becomes unwillingly involved in a conflict between magic users known as the "Holy Grail War ". He is an honest and good-hearted teenager who always enjoys helping others and aspires to become a " hero of justice ".

An older incarnation of Shirou is also introduced in Fate/stay night who only goes by his surname EMIYA. EMIYA is from an alternate timeline in which Shirou fulfilled his goal of becoming a hero, and the Unlimited Blade Works route of Fate/stay night places heavy focus on ideological conflict between Shirou and his older self.
