Gyros salad - a popular in Poland occasional dish with an undetermined genesis. It has a layered structure, usually served in a glass vessel, which exposes each layer. Its main component are small pieces of poultry meat (usually tenderloin) seasoned on the Greek fast- food gyros, which is usually the base of the whole dish.
The composition of the dish
The dish is made of many layers, which make up the basic ingredients of the whole salad, which distinguishes this dish from other of this type (it is mixed only after being applied to the plate ). Its basic element is gyros type meat, next to which is the admixture of various vegetables, usually canned, such as sweetcorn, young preserved onions or olives. A large part of the volume of the dish is Roman lettuce, and the whole is usually sprinkled with red onion cut into rings. The batch of the whole dish is for it mayonnaise, usually being a repeating segment between the layers of subsequent ingredients.
Flavor variations
The gyros salad quickly got many variations that significantly intensify its popularity. Many varieties can be distinguished, although there is a classicdivisionbetween them:
classic - consisting of vegetables, meat, mayonnaise and additional ketchup
classic with rice - the additional ingredient is boiled rice, often seasoned
classic with pasta additionally we can distinguish the version where all the components have been mixed ( classic mixed), but it is hard to directly recognize it as a family member, because the species of gyros salad is usually conditioned by its layers.
