Theory of fun according to Piaget - theory in developmental psychology, developed by Jean Piaget, based on the assumption that the development of play is closely connected with the development of the child 's intelligence. Theory says that you can to some extent assess the level of development of a child by watching his play.
Piaget considers fun to be a reflection of the process called assimilation in psychology. This means that the child tries to use the previously acquired knowledge and skills at the time of encountering a new phenomenon, similar to previous experience.
Play activity stages
Piaget distinguishes three basic stages of play activity:
Improvement play
Occurs in a child from birth to the end of the second year of life. It is the proper sensory- motor level of intelligence development.
The perfecting game consists in practicing and controlling movements and on examining objects with touch and sight. The child 's actions considered to be fun during this period consist in repeating certain movements during which the child learns the reality. These activities are performed by the child to show the development of fitness and involvement in the practiced activity.
