Autochton (Greek: αὐτόχθων autochthon - "from this land ", " tapestry ", "native" from autós 'sam' and chthōn ' land ') - a man belonging to the indigenous population of a given area, e.g. American Indians or Australian Aborigines.
According to professor Andrzej Saxony, a sociologist specializing in ethnic minority studies, the term indigenous peoples also describes a citizen of the Polish -German borderland, a former citizen of the Third Reich, declaring Polish origin. This term was incomprehensible to the people endowed with it, and was also stigmatizing. The Polish -speaking inhabitants of former East Prussia came mainly from Mazovia (from Kurpie ). In the strict sense of the word, they were not indigenous. Despite this, for propaganda reasons, this term was imposed by the authorities of the Polish People 's Republic since 1945. It has been adopted and is still used today in other languages. Prussians should be considered indigenous (indigenous) inhabitants of these areas.
