ania from zielony - online puzzles
Anne of Green Gables - a series of youth novels by Canadian writer Lucy Maud Montgomery telling about the fate of Ania Shirley, an orphan girl raised in Avonlea by the siblings Maryla and Mateusz Cuthbert.
The prototype of the heroine and the place
The author 's inspiration was a newspaper article about a couple who, by mistake, had adopted a girl instead of a boy, and yet they decided to keep her. Writing a book, Montgomery also used her own childhood experiences. As a girl of less than two years old, she was orphaned by her mother, while her father gave her upbringing in-laws. Lucy Maud Montgomery was raised by the grandparents of Alexander and Lucy Macneill in the small village of Cavendish on Prince Edward Island.
The prototype of Zielona Hill, the house in which Ania lived, became the property of Margaret and David Macneill, guardians of much distant cousin Myrtle Macneill (after husband Webb) than Lucy Maud Montgomery. The situation of Myrtle, brought up by a pair of older siblings, resembled the situation of the book Ani Shirley, which is why many people thought that in Maryla and Mateusz the author portrayed Macneill. She consistently denied this. After the death of the Macneill, Green Hill came into the possession of Myrtle and her husband Ernest Webb.
