Because he was already very tall for his age, he was easily 20-year-old. Thanks to his charismatic charisma (aura) he quickly reached the higher rank of the army and eventually became a major. In 1863 he was eventually evacuated the city of Galveston (Texas), where he met on the way back to the vampires Nettie, Lucy and Mary, who turned him into a vampire.
