Muhammad is an Arab prophet who is credited with the founding of the Islamic religion. He was born in Mecca, a city in the Hijaz region of Saudi Arabia, in April 570 AD. He belonged to the Kashmir clan, one of the most important tribes in the Arab world. He was orphaned at the age of six, but his uncle Abu Talib took care of him. Together with him he made numerous trips and got to know the world of commerce. Muhammad began to retire to the desert to meditate at the age of 40, in a cave on Mount Hira, there he had the first revelations of him through the Archangel Gabriel. In these revelations, according to him, Allah revealed to him the secrets of the true religion. He then began preaching in Mecca, the city of his birth. The speech was about the main figures of the monotheistic religions: Moses, Abraham and Jesus. His words addressed to the dispossessed made him gain followers in that sector of the population. For this reason, the authorities saw him as a threat and began to be persecuted, for which he had to flee to Medina in 622. The Hijra, as this flight is also called, has been taken as the event that gave rise to formally to the founding of Islamism.
