The rights of the child are regulated by the Convention on the Rights of the Child adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on November 20, 1989. The Convention was also assumed by Romania by adopting the law Law no. 18/1990 for the ratification of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (published in the Official Gazette no. 314 of 13 June 2001).
