Bydgoszcz (Latin Bidgostia [4], German Bromberg) - a city with poviat rights in northern Poland, the seat of the voivode and his subordinate units, and the largest city in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship [5]. Located at the junction of four macroregions of the South Baltic Lake District, on the Brda River and the Bydgoszcz Canal, it borders on the east with the Vistula River, which through the Fordon Gorge faces the Baltic Sea. The city is located in the glacial valley of the Brda River, at an altitude of 60 m above sea level. It stretches from Łąki Nadnoteckie to the Vistula River, where the Brda River has its mouth. On the southern and northern sides, there are ranges of uplands.
