The Amalfi Coast is the stretch of Costa Campana del Mar Tirreno South of the Province of Salerno, located south of the Sorrento Peninsula and north of the Cilento Coast, which overlooks the Gulf of Salerno, bordered to the west from Positano and east by Vietri sul Mare, famous throughout the world for its naturalistic beauty, as well as the seat of important tourist settlements. Declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1997, it takes its name from the city of Amalfi, a central core of the coast not only geographically, but also historically.
