Zamość (Latin Zamoscia, Ukrainian Замостя, Russian Замость (Замостье), Yiddish זאמאשטש) - a city with county rights in Poland in the southern part of the Lubelskie Province, the seat of the Zamość County and Zamość Commune. It is one of the largest cultural, educational and tourist centers of the voivodeship, especially the Zamość region. Due to the unique architectural and urban complex of the Old Town, it is sometimes called "the pearl of the Renaissance", "the city of arcades" and "Padua of the North" [2] [3]. In terms of population, it ranks second in the voivodship (63,437 inhabitants at the end of 2019 [1]), while in terms of area it ranks 10th. In 1992, Zamość Old Town was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
