Sendai (Japanese 仙台 市 Sendai-shi) - the capital of Miyagi Prefecture in Japan and the largest city in the Tōhoku region (north-eastern part of the island of Honshu). The city has over a million inhabitants and is one of the cities marked by a government regulation. It was founded in 1600 by the daimyō Masamune Date and is known as the "City of Trees" (杜 の 都 - Mori no Miyako, Literally meaning: "Forest Capital").
