Maastricht (Limburgish: Mestreech) - a city in the south of Holland, the capital of the province of Limburg, located on the river Meuse. Maastricht is probably the oldest city in the Netherlands. It is also the city furthest to the south-east (it lies between Belgium and Germany). The city belongs to the Meuse-Rhine Euroregion. Other major cities in this Euroregion are Aachen in Germany and Hasselt and Liège in the Flemish and French-speaking parts of Belgium.
