Mostar is a medieval town founded by the Turks. It is located in the southwestern part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, on the road from Dubrovnik to Sarajevo. The city is situated at an altitude of approx. 60 m above sea level, on the Mostarsko polje plain, on both banks of the Neretva River. Most of the buildings in the old town of Mostar - although often reconstructed - are examples of Muslim buildings from the 16th and 16th centuries. The reconstructed Old Bridge, entered on the UNESCO list, is the symbol of the city.
