The capital and largest city of Spain, located in the central part of the country on the Castilian Plateau at the foot of the Sierra de Guadarrama on the Manzanares River. It is the third largest city of the European Union after London and Berlin. There are several theories about the origin of the city name. According to legend, Madrid was founded by Ocno Bianor, it was originally named Metragirta or Mantua Carpetana, while others claim that the original name of this city was Ursaria, due to the large number of bears.
