Koenigssee Bavaria online puzzle
St. Bartholomew (St. Bartholomä) is a Catholic pilgrimage church in the Berchtesgadener Land district. The church is dedicated to the apostle Bartholomew, the patron saint of Alpine farmers and dairy farmers. The church is located on the west coast of the Royal Lake, on the Hirschau peninsula. It is only reachable by boat or after a long hike through the surrounding mountains. The palace and pilgrimage church were founded by the prince-parish priest of Berchtesgaden in 1134. Beginning in 1697, the church was extended in a baroque style with a floor similar to the Salzburg cathedral, two onion domes and a red roof. In the church you can see beautiful details in stucco made by the Salzburg master Józef Schmidt and a choir with three apses.
