Vernazza is one of the most picturesque towns in the Italian Cinque Terre region. Once, in pre-Roman times, it was an independent city-state, like the other four cities of the region: Monterosso al Mare, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore. There are no cars here - the buildings crowded over the rocky shore of the sea are separated only by narrow streets, and the city center is a small square next to an intimate beach.
