Afro-Brazilian culture consists of the set of cultural manifestations predominant in our country. Brazil's culture was forged from a mixture of cultural elements from Africa, indigenous people and Europeans. The Africans brought to Brazil included Bantu, Nagô and Jeje, whose religious beliefs gave rise to Afro-Brazilian religions, and the Hausa and Malês, of Islamic religion and literate in Arabic. Just like indigenous culture, African culture was generally suppressed by colonizers. In music and dance we also find some of the main characteristics of Afro-Brazilian culture. Here corporeality comes to the fore. It is present in expressions such as Samba, Jongo, Carimbó, Maxixe, Maculelê and Maracatu.
