Katawbi rhododendron, son. rhododendron purple (Rhododendron catawbiense Michx.) - a species of plants from the heather family (Ericaceae). It comes from North America, where it grows in the forest canopy [4]. It was brought to Europe at the beginning of the 19th century. In Poland, it does not occur in natural sites. Apart from yellow rhododendron, yakushiman rhododendron and Japanese azalea, it is the basic species of ornamental rhododendrons.
