Dahlia, Georgia (Dahlia Cav.) - genus of seed plants belonging to the Asteraceae family. It is native to Central America and has 15 species. Some are grown in many countries as ornamental plants. The name comes from the surname of the Swedish botanist Anders Dahl [2]. Also known under the folk names: gragonia, gragona, wielgonia and wielgoń (the last two concern especially varieties with the largest inflorescences). The typical species is Dahlia pinnata Cav. [3].
