The action of the film takes place in 50 BCE. Gaul was occupied by the Romans, but one settlement resisted the invaders. The great leader and life dictator of Rome, Julius Caesar, decides to try a new tactic against the rebellious. The emperor then orders the construction of the "Settlement of the Gods" next to the village - a colony of luxurious properties for wealthy Romans. Fortunately, two brave Gauls, Asterix and Obelix, do their best to thwart Julius Caesar's plans.
