The action begins in 1916, when Anastasia is eight years old. During the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the reign of the Romanov dynasty in Russia, Empress mother Maria, who soon leaves Moscow for Paris, gives her beloved youngest granddaughter a necklace with the inscription Together in Paris, as well as a music box with a lullaby she used to sing to her every night. Suddenly, the exiled tsarist adviser Grigory Rasputin and his henchman Bartok invade the palace.
