Hoi An - a city on the central coast of Vietnam, which dates back to the first millennium BC. It was then that a port was founded here, which over the years has become the largest port of the Silk Road. In colonial times, the port fell into the hands of the Portuguese, without losing its global importance. Many monuments have been preserved from this period, thanks to which in 1999 the city was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. It is believed that the city owes this entry to the Polish conservator of monuments - KAZIMIERZ KWIATKOWSKI, who in the 90s saved the historic complex from demolition and contributed to its renovation.
