Egyptian pyramids are ancient pyramid-shaped pyramids located in Egypt. As of November 2008, sources say 118 or 138 as the number of Egyptian pyramids identified. [1] [2] Most were built as tombs for the pharaohs and their spouses during the Old and Middle Kingdom. The oldest known Egyptian pyramids are in Saqqara, northwest of Memphis. The earliest of them is the Pyramid of Djoser built during the third dynasty. This pyramid and the surrounding complex were designed by the architect Imhotep and are considered to be the oldest antique buildings in the world made of machined stone. [
