Khanshala (French Khenchela, Tamazight Khenchelth, Arabic: خنشلة, ancient Mascula) - a city in Algeria, the capital of the province (vilajet) of Khanshala. The city is located in the north-eastern part of the country, in the mountainous region of Jabal al-Auras, at an altitude of approx. 1,200 m above sea level. It is mainly inhabited by Berbers (Chaoui).
