Jewess with oranges online puzzle
Jewish woman with oranges (Oranger, Street vendor with oranges) - oil painting by Polish painter Aleksander Gierymski. The painting was robbed during World War II by the German invader and recovered in 2011. The work was created in 1880-1881 during the artist's stay in Warsaw. At that time, Gierymski became involved with writers and critics publishing in the positivist magazine Wędrowiec, he began working with Stanisław Witkiewicz and Antoni Sygietyński. At that time, a series of realistic genre scenes was created, depicting the lives of the Jewish inhabitants of Powiśle and other poor districts. Other works from this series, except for a Jewess with oranges, are: a Jewess with lemons, a Gate in the Old Town in Warsaw and several versions of the Trumpet Festival.
