In November 2007, the City Council of Inowrocław adopted a resolution on making Saint Queen Jadwiga the patron of the city. In the justification to the resolution it was written: Queen Jadwiga occupies a special place in the consciousness of the inhabitants of Inowrocław. She stayed here several times, Her cult is very strong to this day. Already in the coat of arms of the city, above the eagle, there is a lily referring to the Angevin family, from which Saint Queen Jadwiga comes. Immediately after regaining independence in 1919, the City Council named the main street of the city Queen Jadwiga. In 1983, the parish of St. Blessed Queen Jadwiga, where the relics of the Saint are located. Since April 22, 1994, Queen Jadwiga has been the patron of the 3rd Secondary School. Every year, students of this school recall the character of the queen in a specially prepared staging on the occasion of Patron's Day. In May 2008, Pope Benedict XVI in an official document confirmed the appointment of Saint Jadwiga the Queen as the patron saint of Inowrocław. The ceremonies related to this event took place on November 8, 2008. Due to the fact that Pope John Paul II canonized Blessed Jadwiga Queen on June 8, 1997, it was considered reasonable to establish the day of canonization as the Day of Partonka of the City of Inowrocław. Since then, the feast of the Patroness is part of the Days of Inowrocław.
