The history of the puzzle begins in the sixties of the eighteenth century, when John Spilsbury, the London engraver and cartographer created the first puzzle of this type. It was a map cut along the edge of the countries, glued to thin wooden boards, which served him as a help in learning. The idea for such a didactic tool was quickly adopted and in many European homes this way children of geography were taught. The oldest puzzles were, however, entertainment not only demanding, but also not very cheap. Because they were made of wood, which was cut from one piece, you had to spend a lot on it.
