Savanna giraffe [4] (Giraffa camelopardalis) - African cloven-hoofed mammal of the giraffe family, the tallest land animal and the largest ruminant living in modern times. His genre epithet refers to the camel-like appearance and fur patches inherent in a leopard (leopard, Panthera pardus). This species is distinguished by a very long neck, reaches 5–6 m in height and weighs (on average) 1,200 kg for males and 830 kg for females. Its closest living relative is the forest okapi (the Giraffidae family counts only these two species at the beginning of the 21st century). Based on the color pattern, 9 subspecies are distinguished, while genetic studies suggest dividing the species into four separate species.
