Jürgen Goertz grew up after the Second World War in Küsten in Lower Saxony, and many years later designed a new interior for the local Church of Peace. In 1960, he graduated from the Lüchow secondary school, and in 1963–1966 he studied sculpture at the Karlsruhe Art Academy. He graduated in artistic education. In 1970 he married the painter Christa Heyn. In 1971 and 1972 he lectured at the Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe. The first exhibition of his works took place in 1974 in Karlsruhe. In 1974, his daughter Eva-Julia was born. In 2004, he was awarded the title of professor honoris causa. The award was presented by the then Prime Minister of Baden-Württemberg, Erwin Teufel. Jürgen Goertz is a member of the German Association of Artists [1], lives and works in Eichtersheim, south of Heidelberg. His studio is located in the secular castle church of Eichtersheim.
