Bactrian camel [3] [4], also: bactrian [4] (Camelus bactrianus) - large cloven-hoofed mammal [5] [3], a species of camel found both in the wild in the central Asian steppes (Mongolia and China), as well as as farm animal. Bactrians are believed to have been domesticated around 2500 B.C., possibly in the northern Iran or southeastern Turkmenistan region, which was independent of the homegrown camel domestication process. Baktrian differs from the one-humped camel in a slightly thicker build, smaller dimensions (including shorter legs) and much more hair.
