Currently, the population is estimated at a maximum of 562 individuals [5]. They live in Primorsky Krai and Khabarovsk Krai in the eastern part of Russia, and some of them occur on the Russian-Chinese border, in the lower reaches of the Amur. Individuals from the latter population are increasingly entering the territories of northern China and North Korea. It lives in mountainous, dense coniferous and mixed forests near rivers and streams.
