It covers the areas of northern Canada, north-west Greenland and many islets lying between them. Arctic wolves can be studied and observed in completely natural conditions, because the areas inhabited by them have never been reached by human civilization on a large scale. Therefore, the arctic wolf is the only wolf subspecies that has survived throughout its original range. Currently not threatened.
