Flamingos live in huge herds that can count up to a million pairs. They take in food by filtering shallow waters with their beaks. They make a loud creaking noise. Crimson flamingo [3], flamingo, flamingo, American flamingo, Caribbean flamingo, pink flamingo [4] (Phoenicopterus ruber) - a species of large wading bird from the flamingo family (Phoenicopteridae), inhabiting the Yucatan peninsula, Antilles, northern coasts of South America and the Galapagos. Until recently, this species was divided into two subspecies: Ph. ruber ruber and Ph. ruber roseus; however, by decisions of European taxonomic commissions (eg Knox et al. 2002 [5]), the latter obtained the status of a separate species - the pink flamingo Phoenicopterus roseus.
